Are Anleolife® Metal Raised Garden Beds Any Good?
Raised bed gardening is popular for many reasons! We’ve seen the Anleolife® metal raised beds advertised across social media and decided to buy a set. Here are our impressions!
#raisedbedgarden #raisedbeds #gardening #raisedbedgardening
Check out our website, which is complete with blogs and more content! www.dirtfarmerjay.com
We have several raised beds in our garden plot with wood chip paths. There is also a corn plot that is directly sowed in the ground, which is the most efficient way we have found to grow corn in a larger block for wind protection, increased pollination, and reduced watering needs.
However, the allure of raised beds is very high, and this approach provides many benefits, such as order and structure, efficient use of soil and amendments in concentrated areas, use of drip irrigation, and ease of planting, cultivation, and harvest.
We have installed a vine crop area using 4’ (1.2 m) round rings with 8’ to 10’ (2.5 to 3 m) spacing between them. This will allow our Crenshaw melons, watermelon, and cantaloupe to spread out on deeply wood-chipped paths. The wood chips will reduce surface temperatures, keep the vines and fruit cleaner, increase moisture retention, and suppress weeds.
We began shopping for durable products that would allow us to install the units and have them in place for several years while continuing to look great!
Our search took us to plumbing supply companies for large-diameter ridged pipe that could be cut into rings (very durable but expensive and hard to transport), agricultural stores for galvanized feed or water troughs, and garden centers for galvanized metal rings.
Along the way, we came across the Anleolife® product because of their extensive social media ad campaigns. After reading the reviews and checking the price, we purchased the 6-piece set of 48” (1.2 m) rounds. They are constructed of galvanized corrugated sections powder-coated in either gray or white. We got the gray.
The rings are made up of 6 overlapping sections, with 6 sets of 6 galvanized Phillips screws and wingnuts. It comes with an inexpensive screwdriver, which was promptly discarded. We used a cordless driver and pliers to hold the wingnuts as we tightened the fasteners.
We did the assembly on our shop worktable, which is 4’ (1.2 m) wide, so they barely fit as we put them together, but it was workable.
The rings are 18” (46 cm) tall. We plan to put the wood chips deep enough so that about 10” (25 cm) are sticking up.
We will do a full review after these beds have been in use for a year, but our initial impressions are very favorable. The product is packed well and arrived in about a week. The sections are short and easy to handle as they are assembled. The fasteners are robust and go together well. 22 gauge galvanized metal is the base material and is powder-coated in either gray or white.
We don’t have any experience with the rigidity of the rectangular beds that Anleolife® offers, but the ring models are substantial and rigid enough that they feel like they are quality units.
The boxes are clearly marked “MADE IN CHINA.” The order was filled out of a shipping point in the U.S.A. At the time of filming, we paid about $425 for a set of 6 round beds. This equates to $71 each, which as $10 or more cheaper per ring than what we found at the local agricultural or garden center stores. Shipping was free, so the savings were genuine.
We’ve also produced another episode showing our site preparation. This included tilling the area for weed suppression and ease of installation of the water system, filling in the raised beds with organic material and growing medium, installing the chipped wood pathways and edge-holdbacks, and planting our crops. You can see that episode here:

I bought two, late 1940s, early 1950s table lamps. I believe that I got a great deal, because they are gorgeous. However, there was no way that I was going to plug them in when I got them home. Jay, your video gave me the knowledge that I needed to be able to rewire my beautiful lamps. Your thorough instructions, and photographs made it much easier than I thought it would be. Don, thanks for stopping by! The manufacturers that I talked to don't recommend hot water. As a matter of fact they told me not to do it, and the material works much better as it stretched evenly. So, it appears there's a diversity of opinion on the approach. But, thanks for writing! Good points. I'll throw something in from my experience. With the additional (horizontal) wedge it changes how you handle the splits and if you're in a rush not paying attention you may have a finger where it shouldn't be. I had been splitting a 16 years using the single wedge on my Timberwolf TWP-1 and one day using the four way I fractured a finger, actually cut the skin but luckily didn't lob it off.

What I don’t love about this setup is how much space it takes up. As a hobby woodworker with a small workshop I’m always looking to reduce bulk. Has anybody found something with this design that has been optimized for smaller workshops? It seems like it’d be doable to have an integrated cyclone. I mean most of the space in the vacuum bucket is not even used so definitely some optimizations that could be made

Great video. I think this part of my problem because for years the oven would take forever to preheat, but recently it will not heat at all. The concerning part is neither will the broiler, but i can see the igniter glowing. So gas isnt making it to the igniter.

    • @DirtFarmerJay

Greg, fair enough. I had crossed paths with them and liked the gauge, feel and durability of them and asked to see more of their product. I've had my share of big box utility or consumer grade cords, and these are a BIG step up from them. Just so you know, we don't take in ANYTHING for review that we don't feel could be a genuine solution or highly usable product for those that have a "hands-on" lifestyle. And, the company must agree to let us say what we want, including any lack in the product. We are not in the business of pitching product. If something works well for us and we think it will be additive to our viewers, we get the info out. Thanks for watching and writing! Best, DFJ

my advice - each component (light) in a Direct Current wiring harness should have it's own ground. In other words, do NOT use the ground wire from "Component A" to power "Component B". If you only have one wire (1 brown wire, for example) but want to power another light, use a 3-way splitter that splits that single wire into 2 wires. Then, each light should either be grounded to the frame of the trailer or wired back to the white wire, coming from the plug. If you have a light that is dim but not flickering, it might be wired in a grounding, daisy-chain where both lights are using a common ground. Hope this helps!

I get it that many people prefer to miter, glue and pin the joints, but I think coping is a great way to do it, and can be done really quickly once you get your cadence down.
